Borderlands 4 Release Date Teased in New Tweets
Speculation Surrounds Latest Social Media Posts
Update: New theory emerges from Twitter clip
The latest tweets from the official Borderlands Twitter accounts have sparked speculation that a fourth installment in the popular looter-shooter series is in development. On February 6th, a nearly three-minute recap of the series' second installment was uploaded to Twitter, along with a cryptic message that has fans abuzz.
The official GearboxSoftware Twitter account also joined in on the fun, tweeting a simple "4" with no other context. This has led many to believe that the number could be teasing the release of Borderlands 4.
While no official announcement has been made, the timing of these tweets is certainly suspicious. Borderlands 3 was released in September 2019, and the series has a history of releasing sequels every three to four years.
One theory that has gained traction is that the February 6th tweet from the official Borderlands account may contain a hidden message. The clip, which shows off the game's villains, is titled "The Calypso Twins: A Love Story." However, if the last letter of each word in the title is read aloud, it spells out "TACT." This could be a reference to the "Tactical Assault Commander" class that was introduced in Borderlands 3.
Whether or not these tweets are teasing Borderlands 4 remains to be seen, but the speculation is sure to continue until an official announcement is made.
